Classic Cuff Down Socks: A Three Part Workshop
The perfect class for beginning sock knitters, or those who wish to improve their small circumference skills on double pointed needles. We will be using the seminal sock reference by Ann Budd, Getting Started Knitting Socks. Skills covered include the Old Norwegian Cast On, slip stitch heel flap, turning a heel, picking up for and decreasing the gusset, toe decreases, and the Kitchener Stitch. Students should know basic decreases (k2tog, ssk) and have knit at least one project in the round.
Materials required: Any weight yarn suitable for making socks, from fingering to worsted (for boot socks), DPNs to match, and Getting Started Knitting Socks. Please purchase your yarn and book from Stash--previously purchased stash from Stash is welcome! We are offering a 25% discount on the book for class participants. Please call or come into the St. Pete shop in advance to discuss your yarn and needle choices.
