For a little background please read The Gift of a Tie.
Kristin: My mom taught me to crochet when I was about 8. We would drive to LeeWards, the giant craft store that would eventually become Michael's, and she would let me choose any type of crafts. I always wanted to crochet big, ambitious, projects, but never finished them. When I was 17, I had a winter trip planned back to my hometown of Apple Valley, Minnesota, I didn't think I'd be able to find a scarf to match my new coat so I decided to knit one. I taught myself, from a book, and knitted a ribbed scarf.
My first full-time job was at Poston's Arts and Crafts store at Clearwater Mall and again I tried all the crafts. Knitting was the one that stuck. And now it has really stuck. I'm so happy to be surrounded daily by yarn and knitters and crocheters. It really is the best thing in the world.
Shush: I don't knit but I have fallen in love with the yarn world. When asked what I do for a living I say I'm in the drug business (funny until I'm asked by TSA). Actually, I am a Clinical Research Associate in the pharmaceutical industry. When in town I may not knit with you but I will make sure you're fed and watered at any of our events.
