Off to Cuba!

Shush and I are heading to Cuba on Sunday, April 17. We'll be gone until Thursday, April 21.There will be no Building Better Knitter class on Sunday April 17, but the shop will be open regular hours 12-4 and Tuesday through Saturday 11-6.  The online store will be closed while we're gone, except for classes. You are still able to register and pay for those. The Malabrigo Trunk Show is ongoing through May 9 so please come see all the pretty things they sent---and Caroline, she's pretty, too. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements when we return! Adios amigos!

Unfortunately there is very little yarn in Cuba, however there are a great many spots where you can purchase hand knitted and crocheted garments at unbelieveable prices. Most of the garments are typically made from undyed cotton and cotton blends. The workmanship is beautiful! Our favorite shop is owned by Lourdes and is right near Hemingway’s favorite bar, Bodeguita del Medio. Tell her we sent you. Perhaps if you are planning a trip to Cuba you would consider bringing some of your stash to donate to one of the shops. The Cuban people welcome any items you may wish to give them including toiletries, clothes, and I’m sure, yarn. Bring a full suitcase of these items to leave there and return with souvenirs like hand made clothes, toys, art, and of course rum and cigars!

Did you come across any yarn in Cuba. I was hoping for some local handspun but so far my search online has come up with nothing.

What kind of yarn do they have in Cuba? Hmmm…
